Which observation should support a material decision?
EPA discusses water-absorbing wood, drywall and carpet in a flood-cleanup setting and warns not to seal flooded cavities before they are dry inside. For a smaller leak, ask the assessor which actual layer was checked and how it determined whether it could be dried. The EPA passage is not a diagnosis for this house.
Can a homeowner test behind the finish?
This website does not ask anyone to open a wall, remove insulation or touch an appliance. Request that a qualified professional document the areas assessed, the proposed work and the evidence of completion.
Stay away from the affected area, do not touch electrical switches, outlets or appliances near water, and call a professional. If anyone is in danger, leave the area and call 911.
How does this relate to the service question?
The wet-insulation guide focuses on one concealed material, while window-entry questions concern a possible path through the envelope. Neither route certifies a building dry by its appearance.
Calls go to voicemail, not a live provider. Messages are recorded and transcribed after the greeting. You can email us instead.
